This is Why You Need Protein in Every Meal

What’s the big deal about protein?  Is it really as necessary as everyone says it is or is it just another hype?  Out of all the macronutrients, protein is crucial for our bodies to be as strong as we can be.  Protein also builds muscle & rebuilds any muscle lost.

Protein intake is crucial for everyone, whether you are a bodybuilder or just want to live a long, healthy life.

👉Did you know we don’t store protein in our bodies?
This is why we need to eat foods rich in protein every day. Luckily, you can find protein in a number of food sources.

👉What happens if you eat too much of it?
Your body will simply cause it to pass through your system.

👉Your body doesn’t have a backup plan for making protein on its own.
This is why it’s important to get enough protein on any given day.

You can find protein in a number of food sources.

Unlike other nutrients, we don’t store protein in our bodies so we need to eat foods rich in protein every day. So if you eat more protein than you need, your body will simply cause it to pass through your system.

You really can’t eat too much of it!

Your body doesn’t have a backup plan for making protein on its own. There is no way to use reserved this macro from previous days. This is why it’s important to get enough protein on any given day. So make sure you are eating enough protein throughout the day.

Protein builds muscles.

Your body makes tiny tears in the muscles when you lift weights to work out. Proteins help repair these tears in the body, building the muscle slightly bigger with every workout.  Your body’s muscle deteriorates, even if you do not work out, as your body needs the energy. Protein helps you to rebuild any muscle lost. Also, muscle provides energy, just like fat.  If you feel that you can’t eat enough of this macronutrient, look into powders you can add to your food or drinks.

Make sure that you’re getting enough protein

Look for foods with protein as a key component on the nutrition label. Some great sources to consider include pork, chicken, eggs, beef, and fish.

Vegetarians can also get proteins into their diets by eating beans, nuts, soy products, and a variety of other foods. Try including some of these foods in your diet every day to make sure that you are providing your body with the proteins it needs to stay healthy.

When you mix incomplete proteins like vegetables, grains, nuts, and legumes, you can create a complete protein.  Animal-based proteins are considered complete proteins because they include all the amino you need.  However, if you are vegan or vegetarian, make sure to mix up these four for a healthy, balanced meal.  Take a look at the infographic below (ps. save it to your device!)
