About the program

The Stretches & MTP Release program was designed for clients who want to focus on getting relief first.  Instead of using entire personal training sessions on the stretching and SMR part, you now have the option to add-on this service.

The program is open to anyone in the Austin, TX area who wants to learn Self-Myofascial release or who needs help stretching.

In the first session, we will go over your problem areas.  Depending on what issues you are experiencing you may need one or more of the following:

In just under a month the results are evident…I came to Rafael with a short time-frame and Rafael hit it out of the ball park.

I visited Austin for a month and sought out a trainer during my stay. Just so happens that RPT Fitness was less than a 5-minute walk from where I was staying – and I’m glad it was. In the short amount of time that we had, Rafael came up with a plan for my goals (including a meal plan) and we got to working straight away. In just under a month the results are evident. It’s actually very interesting: pre RPT Fitness my main form of exercise was cardio, cardio and more cardio (also, cardio). I gave little to no attention to using weights and although the number on the scale was satisfying for me to see, overall my physical appearance (think thin but…marshmallow-y) wasn’t where I wanted it to be. After working with Rafael, I can confidently say that I’ll be incorporating resistance training/weights into my exercise. TBH I’m blown away at what a difference relaxing on my cardio only approach and adding in resistance training has down in such a short amount of time. LADIES, don’t be afraid of weights! I came to Rafael with a short time-frame and Rafael hit it out of the ball park. I’m very glad that I had the opportunity to work with him on my personal fitness goals - honestly, my whole concept of how to work out has changed thanks to him.

It’s been absolutely worth the investment.

I've struggled with personal health for a while. Not just weight (although that's a big part of it) but living a lifestyle that I know will keep me healthy as I get older.

 

I've tried working out on my own, eating healthy on my own, etc. But the weight fluctuates, the motivation fluctuates. I didn't simply want to diet and have a quick-fix weight loss, I wanted to change my lifestyle.

Rafael has helped me with that immeasurably.

 

During each session, he's patient in teaching me correct methodology for the various exercises he puts me through. He motivates, but not in a mean way at all. He also tells me exactly what we're working on and why so I can better understand how it helps and why it's important, and teaches me exercises I can do on my own, even without any fancy workout equipment at home.

 

Most importantly, he has given me nutrition plans that have helped me eat right and aid the workouts, as well as cardio plans that I can do on my own outside of my two weekly sessions with him.

I've been working out with Rafael for about two months and my BMI has dropped about 5% and I'm not done yet. It's great because I don't have to feel bad or backtrack significantly if I have a fun weekend where I want to eat some pizza or some other junk. As long as I keep on track, I know I'm making progress.

I've lost fat, gained muscle, and created a more healthy lifestyle that I know I'll be able to more reasonably maintain if and when I start going off on my own.

No matter your personal health needs, Rafael is your guy. It's been absolutely worth the investment.

(And as a bonus, it's entirely COVID safe. Rafael wears a mask the entire time. I don't think I've ever even seen his face lol).

When I met with Rafael for a fitness evaluation I expected the standard measurements: weight, circumference of waist, chest, and various muscles, BMI, etc... what I didn't expect was how far beyond Rafael was able to go.

It turns out Rafael has a deep understanding of the muscular and skeletal system and he uses that knowledge to train you in ways that improve over all health from the inside out.

I had tried EVERYTHING…I thought Rafael was just a personal trainer, so I didn’t have hugely high expectations that he’d be able to “fix” me but boy was I wrong.

Today was my last workout at the studio where it all started for me! When I found RPT Fitness I was pregnant and could barely walk due to an old injury in my low back that reared it’s ugly head as my body shifted and prepared for childbirth.

I had tried EVERYTHING…expensive pro athlete style physical therapy, massage, acupuncture, chiropractic, energy work, osteopathy, and finally a steroid injection into my SI joint. Even that only took away about 10% of my pain.

I thought Rafael was just a personal trainer, so I didn’t have hugely high expectations that he’d be able to “fix” me but boy was I wrong. Rafael is not just a personal trainer, he is an expert in corrective exercise - if you tell him where it hurts, he’ll work on the parts of your body that relate to that area. It was painful for a few weeks, but then…My pain started to wear off….

Long story short, I continued to see Rafael all through the rest of my pregnancy (up until the week I gave birth, weighing 202 lbs!!!!). I started back up with him 8 weeks postpartum, as soon as my doctor cleared me for regular activity, and have been seeing him ever since.

I feel stronger than I ever have, and in all the right ways, using proper form, building strength from the inside out with core work built into every exercise.

I’m sad not to have his gym just 6 minutes from my house (we’ve been so spoiled!) but I’m so excited his business has grown so much that he’s moving to a bigger space! No one deserves the success he’s experiencing more than he does, and I’m happy to have played a small part in that. Thank you Rafael, for your excellent work now and always, and I’ll see you Monday morning in your new gym!!

Results

We cannot guarantee results on the first session.  You will feel the difference and some relief from the first session, however, to avoid future pain, you must follow up with strengthening exercises. You can do these either on your own or by signing up for one of our training packages.

Our trainers will tell you exactly what can help you get relief based on your current activity levels and lifestyle.

Appointments

Clients can schedule appointments Tuesdays and Thursdays for a 30-minute Stretches & MTP Release session.  Each session is $45 (for a limited time) and due at the beginning of the session.

Prior to the session, we ask that you complete these forms.  If you don't have access to a printer, that's ok! We will have forms in the studio for you to fill out. In some cases, we will require a doctor's release when needed.  Please review this form and let us know if we will need a doctor's release first.

COVID-19

Due to the nature of the session, we do ask every client to wear a face-covering for protection.  We have hand sanitizers readily available.

Every client will have their temperature checked prior to coming into the studio.

Where does the pain come from

When your muscles are overactive and tight, you will feel pain or pressure in that area.  Stretches and myofascial release allows your muscles to relax and lengthen.  This is going to help your pain diminish and in some cases completely go away.

After stretching and MTP release, we recommend you follow a Corrective Exercise Program to strengthen your muscles.  Strengthening your muscles balances you and prevents future pain.

Traditionally, stretching helps with flexibility. Stretching lengthens your muscles with the static stretching technique.

Stretching increases your range of motion, reduces stiffness, and improves posture.

MTPs happen when there are postural and movement dysfunctions throughout your body. Releasing MTPs helps loosen the tight muscles so that your posture is balanced again.  This prevents your body from overcompensating and creating new pain points.
